GATE MASTER PLAN - WHAT'S NEXT?
At its May 2, 2013 meeting, the DJUSD Board decided to embark on full evaluation of self-contained gifted program.

As the revision and review of the GATE Master Plan is now under way (see pdf below), this is the ideal time for community members to express their support for differentiated instruction in inclusive classrooms. Each of us can write, telephone, or email school board members to share our views (see contact information, below), and we can talk to our friends and neighbors about the need for change. Community members can attend GATE advisory meetings (listed on the DJUSD website) as well as school board meetings. The GATE Master Plan will be on the DJUSD meeting agenda several times in the coming months. By attending board meetings and speaking during the public comment period, community members can stand up for the social, emotional, and educational needs of all of our children by urging the district to seek and follow a new direction in its approach to GATE education.
